Sing to Him
Psalm was the first book in the bible I ever read. I ate it up as it filled my hungry soul. I took refuge in the words. I loved reading about His wonderful love for us. It’s true that we “love because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19) His redeeming and unfailing love is what had drawn me to Him. I got to know Him and love Him.
The book of Psalm is a book of worship. Psalm means a sacred song. I’ve read that this book in the original Hebrew language had more rhyme and rhythm than it does in English. Even so, it still reads like a song or poem. The bible mentions singing about one hundred and twenty times. “Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord” it tells us. (Ephesians 5:19) By lifting our voice in song we direct our heart to Him. Like ancient times when sweet sacrifices were lifted, God looked at the heart. We too can give Him a sweet sound from our heart. A gift to Him. That he will enjoy.
