Distracted
Some days I’m so zealous for God! Other days I feel my attention being drawn away. My to-do lists are long. Husband, children, friends, work, bills, organizing, cleaning, cooking, laundry, shopping, holiday planning and more. They are all good things. But they cause my days to be full of distractions.
Say hello to Martha! She was busy like me. The bible tells us that “Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made.” (Luke 10:40) Jesus reminded her that “only one thing is needed.” (Luke 10:41) He of course was talking about her relationship with Him. That’s the one thing we need too. God corrected Martha to bring her back to Him. God’s love does that for me and you too. He gently reminds us that we need to spend time with Him. Not to disregard our responsibilities, but to realize what matters most. But how do we enter into His presence? Right through Jesus! He said “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture.” (John 10:9) It’s this pasture where we find that “one thing” that refresh’s our souls. He is what we need. Have you entered the gate? Are you going in and out of it? There is nothing more important than time with Jesus.
