Believe
I’m a Christian and it’s not because it’s easy to believe. That the God who created the heavens and earth came to live among us in flesh as a man. Dying on a cross as a sacrifice then defeating death and rising again. Which cleansed us and secured our eternal future. It’s biblical but doesn’t seem logical. Yet, no honest investigative research has proven that the firsthand testimonies in the bible are false. On the contrary, the evidence of truth is overwhelming. Still most of us would say, “I need to see it to believe it!” But we weren’t alive 2000 years ago, so that can’t happen. Therefore, Christianity is going to require faith to believe.
Thomas couldn’t believe Jesus rose from death until he saw Him. Even though many testified to it. Jesus said to Thomas, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” (John 20:29) We are those who are blessed when we have the faith to believe. My eyes have never seen God. But I do keep a list of times I’ve seen the evidence of God in my life. Likewise, I can’t see the wind, but I do see the evidence of it moving. It’s supernatural confirmation. I’m a Christian because Jesus is living, powerful and present. I know Him because I first believed.
