In Charge
Who’s in charge? Naturally we are inclined to think we are, but we would be wrong. Most are employed and have a boss who’s in charge. In your state and country you have leaders that are in charge. Our planet is spinning close to 67,000 miles per hour and we aren’t in control of that. Or any of the other incredible activities occurring in our galaxy and the universe. Of course, we are able to make decisions within our life - but ultimately it’s God who is in charge. God is, “Far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else.” (Ephesians 1:21) Not just above, but far above!
The Assyrians were a brutal and strong nation. They conquered 46 cities before they surrounded the walls of Jerusalem. Judea’s defeat seemed unavoidable. However, King Hezekiah was faithful to God and that changed everything. He did the best he could to prepare his walls and people. He told them, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him.” (2 Chronicles 32:7) He knew God was in charge. He knew God was far above them. He cried out in prayer. Then God, “Sent an angel, who annihilated all the fighting men.” (2 Chronicles 32:21) The next morning there were 185,000 dead bodies laying in the camp. It was an unbelievable outcome.
God is far above anything your dealing with. Your situation can change in a moment - not because you’re in charge, but because God is.
