Your Mornings
My brother recently moved across country into the pacific time zone. He wakes up very early in the morning. He sent me a couple pictures of the sunrise. I see God’s majesty in the sunrise. It’s like a canvas with royal colors declaring He is King.
A high window in my bedroom faces east. The rising sun shines in so bright it wakes me. I usually want to roll over and go back to sleep. I just heard on the radio that people hit snooze on average 2 times a day and take 24 extra minutes to get up. It’s common to go back to sleep. Mornings can be hard. There are a lot of reasons why it’s easy to hit snooze. Yet, there is one excellent reason not to - time with God.
Jesus, whom we should imitate, spent morning time with the heavenly Father. “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” (Mark 1:35) The hard part is listed - He got up! Then He went to a place where he could be alone. We too need to have a designated place for prayer that is free from any distractions. Quiet early mornings are important. They are our opportunity to put God first. Get up, grab your bible and pray!
