Your Comfort

I lived in a travel trailer while waiting to be able to move into my house. It was tough. I was uncomfortable and homesick. I was searching for things to help me feel better. To be comforted. Multiple times I was sitting on the little sofa looking straight ahead with two options. On the one side was the cabinet that held our food, including cookies. The other side held my bible and writing book. It took a few times before I noticed that I was in that exact same spot contemplating the exact same choice - cookie cabinet or bible. Sad to say, I kept running to the cookies for my comfort.

Where do you get your comfort? Is there something or someone you turn to? Many people seek out counselors for help. But what about going to God? The bible says that He is a, “Wonderful Counselor.” (Isaiah 9:6) What about letting Him lead you in the way you should go. Yes, I know it seems much easier to turn to cookies or something else that offers instant satisfaction. But it’s only a temporary fill. For lasting comfort, you will have to start reading the words of God in the bible. Giving them enough time to soak in. So you can understand what He is specifically saying to you. Like a good counselor, He will teach you the truth and remind you what is right. And it will always be at the right time. So be patient, but more so, be diligent in spending time with Him. He will guide you and comfort you wonderfully.
