Broken Heart
When I met God for the first time all I had was a broken heart. Literally broken. I was truly sad and lonely. I needed someone or something that the world didn’t have. I was tired of the worlds emptiness. Thankfully, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18) He saw me and He came near to me. In my moment of salvation the Holy Spirit filled me with His presence. I knew God in an instant. My hands flew up to heaven, I trembled and I truly cried. I cried in awe that this perfect love was for imperfect me. How could it be? This tender affection was for me. This is a moment I will never forget. Instantly the Holy Spirit cleansed me, healed me and restored me. I had Jesus and it was literally all I needed. In just a moment I went from having nothing to having everything. All my sadness was gone and replaced with joy. The bible was my most important possession and still is today. I’m chosen, I’m loved and I’m His. I have hope.
If you’re broken you can take comfort in knowing God is close. He can instantly turn your sadness to joy. Spend time in your bible to “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:8)
