Wait
The whole world is waiting right now. Many without peace. That’s because it’s so much more than viruses or bad governments. “We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.” (Romans 8:22) Everyone is wondering what is going to happen? What does our future hold? We want more information. People are longing for insight to be able to plan, prepare and find comfort. Yet, many answers aren’t provided and we just simply have to wait.
Elijah was sent by God to live by a brook in the middle of nowhere. He was essentially being hid from bad government. God was protecting him, training him and testing him. God was working it all out. Did Elijah understand that? Or did he ask, “What is going on?” When the brook, that sustained him, dried up God told him to move to another unusual place. The house of a very poor widow in a distant city. Did Elijah question or just trust God? We can see now it was a time of testing. That many people were bowing their knees to a false god. Elijah just had to wait. He had to live in the uncertainty of that time. Today, we do too. God is faithful to every generation. Let’s trust Him and patiently wait.
