Is He Enough

My son told me that at an event he attended a boy said to the group, “I don’t know if anyone loves me.” He had shared that his mother left and his dad drinks and is very angry. That was sad to hear. The two people in this world, above all the rest, that should be there for him weren’t. Yet, that is the brokenness that many of us deal with. People aren’t always there for us. It’s a hard and honest reality. We need to remember that many people around us are fighting an internal battle we know nothing about. The love of family is so important. If you know you are loved, that is a very good thing and you have a reason to rejoice every day. If you don’t have anyone or are still struggling to find security in love, then let me tell you that you must first come to know God’s love. If you know God, you know love, because “God is love.” (1 John 4:8) I remember that wonderful day when I first met my Savior, the brokenness of this life didn’t matter anymore. Has Christ come into your life? He is the only one that can break our chains and truly love us. Christ alone is enough.

When Jesus Christ lived in bodily form many people came to see Him. He taught many things and great crowds followed Him. Mostly because they wanted to see the miraculous signs performed. When they were asking Him for more, Jesus told the crowds that He was what they needed and not the miracles. He told them to taste and drink the spiritual food not physical food. “On hearing it, many of His disciples said: ‘This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?’” (John 6:60). Jesus aware they were lacking, explained that God the Father needed to reveal the Truth to them and enable them to understand. “From this time many of His disciples turned back and no longer followed Him.” (John 6:66) Not including the twelve men. Simon Peter said, “We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.” (John 6:69) They knew Jesus was enough.

If God has revealed Himself to you and enabled you to see the truth, then you are blessed. You know God’s love. All the rest can be counted as meaningless compared to the greatness of knowing Christ. Remind yourself every day that God alone is enough.
