Hot or Cold

Have you ever drank water left in your vehicle in the summer and it was real warm? It’s so gross! You literally want to spit it out. This summer I got a new refrigerator that has an ice and cold water dispenser. I enjoy filling my cups to the brim with ice, it’s so refreshing. My water has no chance now of getting warm in my vehicle. However, summer is slowly leaving us and there is a cool fall breeze in the air. Time for piping hot pumpkin spice lattes, caramel mocha cappuccinos and hot cocoa. What I’m getting at is that drinks are meant to be hot or cold. Lukewarm is never good.

I love that God uses the example of hot and cold to distinguish our standing with him. He says, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot, I wish you were either one or the other!” (Revelation 3:15) He doesn’t want us to be lukewarm Christians. He says, “So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” (Revelation 3:16) God implores us not to be worthless like that warm cup of water. He is calling us to live a life on fire for Him. A life with conviction, enthusiasm and commitment to Him. A life where we are a refreshing cold stream of water poured out to others. Choose today to be hot or cold for God! This is how you were meant to live.
