Others Approval
Do you need others approval? Do you need to impress others with what you do, have or look like? Why do we try so hard to please others? Paul called Peter out on this type of behavior in Antioch. He noticed that Peter was eating with the gentiles until the Jews arrived then “He began to draw back and separate himself.” (Galatians 2:12) Peter knew God was for everyone, but he was afraid of what they would think. He wanted their approval. Paul reported that a man was led astray by Peter’s hypocrisy. This tells me that pleasing others is a serious problem. Paul understood he couldn’t please men and God. He said, “If still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.” (Galatians 1:10) We can not carry out the tasks God has for us if trying to please others.
Years ago I was really anxious about an event. I was concerned about what the people thought of me. I prayed about it and God provided me with a simple answer. He let me know nobody loves me like He loves me. God’s love for us is what we need, not others approval. What God thinks of you is all that matters. His love is enough.
